Johnny Franck, best known as the former vocalist of Columbus, OH metalcore band Attack Attack!, made a stunning return to form today as his newest musical project, Bilmuri, released their self-titled sophomore album.
Bilmuri is the follow up to the bands debut effort Jaquar Shark, released last year. While the album flew mostly under the radar, it received praise from critics and listeners alike.
For the bands second release, Bilmuri expands on its mostly neo pop-punk driven sound to include more hardcore and emo influences as well. The leading singles off the album illustrate this with the slower alternative track “You” and the high energy hardcore jam “Down.”
Johnny Franck left Attack Attack! in 2010 citing a desire to leave the touring scene and focus more on his faith and his home life. He has since made a name for himself as producer working with Midwest locals such as We Are The Blog, Boys of Fall, Insomniac, and The Following, along with larger acts like Dave Days and Jarrod Alonge. While he’s continued writing and releasing music under various projects, many wonder if this new band will mark his return to the stage at some point in the future.
