The Warehouse has been getting a lot of attention over the past few days since the story broke that the all-ages venue may be forced to close its doors after 26 years of service. Many artists and fans from Wisconsin and beyond have taken to social media urging everyone to do what they can to help save The Warehouse, and people have been taking notice. The venue’s GoFundMe page has experienced a significant increase in traffic in the last three days, and donations are rolling in faster than they have in quite some time.
That being said, there’s still a long way to go before The Warehouse is out of hot water and able to secure its cabaret license to continue hosting shows. As we mentioned in our previous article, music scenes need great venues to survive. When a venue is forced to shut down, a bit of that scene dies with it. This is especially tragic given The Warehouse’s decades long history of serving said community. This is why we here at MMC have decided to throw our hats into the ring and do something to help keep the lights on at LaCrosse’s favorite venue.
Midwest Music Collective is proud to present The Warehouse Kids: a 20 track compilation album to raise money to help keep The Warehouse alive. We’ve partnered with some fantastic artists of a variety of genres, all who want to see The Warehouse stay open. It is available to stream on our bandcamp page right now, and the whole album can be yours for as little as a one dollar donation. We will also be printing physical copies that will be available to buy at all upcoming MMC shows, including Brickfest this Saturday!
Absolutely 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Warehouse Alliance to help cover the cost of securing the cabaret license they need in order resume normal operation. We have not been commissioned by Warehouse Alliance to do this, nor have they had any part in putting together the compilation. We are doing this simply because we love the The Warehouse, what it stands for, and what it provides for the midwest music community. All the bands featured on this album feel the same way and have graciously volunteered their music to help out the cause.
